1. What is the difference between PMSM and asynchronous (induction) motors?
PMSM uses permanent magnets (NdFeB) for the magnetic field, ensuring the rotor speed is strictly synchronized with the magnetic field speed. Asynchronous motors generate fields through electricity and have "slip." PMSM offers much higher efficiency (95-98%) compared to induction motors (85-95%), especially at low speeds.
2. What are the energy-saving benefits of permanent magnet synchronous motors?
PMSM features a higher power factor and does not require an excitation current. This results in an actual operating current about 15% lower than asynchronous motors. They offer high efficiency across a wide range of loads, significantly reducing reactive power consumption.
3. Can these motors be used with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)?
Yes, our IE5 motors are designed for both direct-starting at industrial frequency and power supply via VFD converters. This allows for a wide speed regulation range (up to 1:1000+) and precise control.
