Can permanent magnet synchronous motors be used as generators?
Yes. A permanent magnet synchronous motor can work as a generator due to its working principle. If it runs CW as a motor, it can run CCW as a generator. Note that a suitable motor controller with AFE function is required for generator operation.
Why can't I use a direct three-phase AC supply to start these motors?
Because the rotor has significant inertia and the magnetic fields spin so fast that a static rotor cannot synchronize with the magnetic field instantly. A VFD is required for starting.
What are the technical requirements for the VFD driver?
The driver should be a vector control VFD with specialized internal software. Common compatible series include Siemens 6SE70, ABB ACS800, and Mitsubishi A740. Our MH300 series VFD is also specifically designed to match this motor.
How is the permanent magnet rotor protected from failure?
Each rotor undergoes corrosion resistance, consistency, high-temperature demagnetization, and linear demagnetization tests. The demagnetization index is strictly maintained within 2%.
Where are these motors typically applied?
These motors are primarily used in variable frequency speed situations, such as high-speed compressors, fans, turbines, pumps, and new energy vehicle systems.
